Review : Jhumroo OR Zangoora. Which is better at Kingdom of Dreams, Gurgaon ?

Kingdom of Dreams (KOD) is one of the biggest and undoubtedly the best live entertainment place in NCR, India. Located in the suburbs of Gurgaon near New Delhi, the place is a delight to be at.

For those who haven’t heard of it, KOD is not an amusement park for kids. Its more of an entertainment hub, a structural and visual delight. The place has artificially created ‘Culture Gully’ and a technologically savvy live theatre – ‘Nautanki Mahal‘. Visit their website for more.

Kingdom of Dreams timings varies with respect to what you intend to do that the place. The premises are open to walk in through the day for a lunch and dinner at ‘Culture Gully’. Kingdom of Dreams Entry Fee

Like the timings, the fee at KOD varies with your activity on the premises. e.g. a per head entry to culture gully which is primarily for snack, lunch and dinner was Rs 700 per head. However, this Rs 700 was fully redeemable inside. i.e. you could purchase food worth Rs 700 with the entry ticket.

Kingdom of Dreams Shows

In my opinion, if you are going to KOD, watching their live show is a must as you won’t find it anywhere else in India. Currently, KOD has two live shows – Jhumro and Zangoora. Now the question is if you are going for the first time which one of the two should you go for (especially when the ticket prices of the show is slightly inflated).

I would review both the shows in short and then you may take a call as per your choice and taste.

KOD – Zangoora Review

Zangoora is the first live show crafted at KOD. The show has been running for more than 3 years and when I went they were running it 800th show. The producers have unleashed and put forward all their technical capabilities and stun the audience with amazing 3D mapping patterns, beautiful designs and Ariel shots. It is clearly visible from the plot that the producers have focused more on visual delight. Maybe because this was the very first show at KOD and the expectations were high. Recently, the show has Hussain Kunjerwala as a lead who adds spark to the stage.

However, as the show was crafted a few years ago, the songs in the entire musical event are slightly dated. Also, as they aren’t evergreen you may not be all ears. When I say the plot is weak, one of the sequences I am reminded is one where a prince (dressed like Hrithik Roshan of Jodha Akhbar) dancing and singing ‘Pehla Nasha’ of ‘Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar’ and ‘Khuda Jaane’ of ‘Bachana Ee Haseeno’. But then the entire ‘Pehla Nasha’ song is performed in air. So as I said, Zangoora lacks logic but is picturesque.

KOD – Jhumroo Review

Jhumroo has been introduced in KOD’s kitty quite recently and has completed 120 shows when I saw it. It is relatively new and fresh than Zangoora for the audience. It’s very evident that the producers have learned from the feedback of Zangoora and incorporated things very cleverly. Jhumroo is based on evergreen songs from Kishore Kumar and each song fits the situation perfectly. The story carries a lot of emotion till the end along with nice comic punches among friends. The songs are melodious and leave you tapping your feet. 

However, Jhumroo compromises on visual effects slightly when compared to Zangoora. Its has lesser Ariel shots and probably less astonishing patterns than Zangoora. Still, Jhumroo should be a good choice especially if you are taking your elderly parents for an experience (many people asked this).

Which Show to Go at KOD?

If you can afford to go to KOD twice, then go for Zangoora first followed by Jhumroo.

If you are planning a single visit to KOD, choose Jhumroo for a good story and melodious songs and Zangoora for witnessing an eye candy. Personally, I have been to Jhumroo multiple times with parents and family members and Zangoora once.
