From one point of view (in the table below), YouTube emerges to be a clear winner. However, what this table doesn’t tell is that YouTube’s global revenue for 2020 was $20 Bn whereas Netflix’s global revenue stood at $25 bn.

YouTube on the one hand is spending billions on building robust servers and infra whereas Netflix is spending billions on content. It’s all about priorities.


Both are winners in their own space till they try to invade each other’s territories.

What looks more likely is that YouTube with such a huge lead might want to dissect some of its audience and give it a shot with the Netflix model.
 
YouTube already did this in some geographies with YouTube RED and now giving it a shot with YouTube Premium.
